About The Ekklesia in HarlanAt The Ekklesia in Harlan, our focus is on our community. We have a strong desire to reach out to our town with the pure gospel of Jesus Christ and serve our neighbors by allowing the love and grace of God to minister through us.
OUR HISTORY... In 1984, a small group of believers came together to form a new church in Harlan. They called their congregation Sunrise Chapel Mennonite Church and built a beautiful building north of Harlan on Spencerville Road. As the years went by, God did wonderful things in their midst. Growing, expanding, and equipping them for the purposes He had for them both then and now. On February 27th of 2014, the congregation purchased the former Harlan Elementary School with intentions both to relocate the church and also to establish the Christian Community Center of Harlan. Along with that move, they also changed the name of their church to 'The Ekklesia in Harlan'. Although The Ekklesia in Harlan is no longer affiliated with the Mennonite denomination, we still greatly value and appreciate our heritage. And that brings us to where we are today... we invite you to come and join us and be part of our history! |
